Industry Symposia – Ipsen

Intrahepatic stones: endoscopic, clinical and genetic perspectives

Wednesday 24 June 13:10-13:30

This symposium has been organised and funded by Ipsen

A proportion of patients develop obstructive biliary complications from gallstones, and require input from Gastroenterologists, Hepatologists and Interventional Endoscopists. This includes patients with choledocholithiasis requiring ductal clearance prior to cholecystectomy, and those who develop intrahepatic stones after cholecystectomy. In this session we will review cases to highlight the challenges in their clinical and endoscopic management. We will also discuss low phospholipid associated cholelithiasis (LPAC) syndrome, including which patients may benefit from undergoing genetic testing, and the practicalities of genetic testing and interpretation of the reports.

Speakers:

Dr. Deepak Joshi (King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust),

Dr. Jeremy Shanika Nayagam (King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust),

10 minutes – Dr Deepak Joshi – Clinical cases of complex choledocholithiasis and intrahepatic stones

10 minutes – Dr Shanika Nayagam – Low phospholipid associated cholelithiasis (LPAC) syndrome
