Love Your Liver Mobile Unit

The British Liver Trust’s mobile unit will again be positioned outside the main entrance to the venue on the Tuesday of the conference but this year there be the opportunity to have a free FibroScan check to find out more about liver health.

The key aim of the Love Your Liver roadshow is to raise awareness of liver health.

  • The Love Your Liver events are for awareness raising purposes and are not being coordinated to case-find individuals with liver disease
  • The FibroScan is being used as a promotional tool to provide attendees with a gauge of their liver health in conjunction with a liver health questionnaire
  • The scan is not being used as a diagnostic tool

How it will work

The first step for those wishing to take part is to complete the British Liver Trust health questionnaire, which asks several questions about their lifestyle. The answers to these questions generate a risk profile, flagging them as low, medium or high risk for the three main liver health risk factors of alcohol, diet/obesity and viral hepatitis.

Individuals who wish to have a liver scan must provide consent. Scans will be performed by local NHS clinicians.

If the FibroScan reading indicates need for follow-up checks, they provide an explanatory letter that can help the individual request that follow-up with a medical professional, as well as providing context and background about the event to a medical professional.
