Getting the most out of BSG LIVE
We look forward to welcoming you in Birmingham this June! Below are some tips and advice to get the most out of your conference.
How to get there: BSG LIVE’24 will be held at the ICC, a world-class conference venue located in the heart of Birmingham. The conference venue is a short walk or taxi from the train station and can also be accessed by car or foot.
Plan your time: Review the conference schedule and identify sessions, workshops, and networking events that align with your interests and goals. Create a personalised itinerary to ensure you make the most of your time.
Make the most of networking: Take advantage of networking opportunities to connect with peers, experts, and potential collaborators. Engage in conversations, exchange contact information, and follow up with new connections after the conference.
The BSG stand – a great meet-up place to grab a free coffee, take a seat, or have a chat – we’re looking forward to meeting you and our friendly BSG staff can help guide you through the event.
This year we look forward to welcoming our undergraduate members for the first time with a Undergraduates Welcome Reception on the Monday after the Masterclass.
If you are part of our international delegation, please do join us for the International Welcome Reception on Tuesday morning!
Attend sessions strategically: Prioritise sessions that offer valuable insights, new research findings, or practical skills that you can apply in your practice or research. Highlights will include the Plenary, as well as the ‘Meet the Experts’ sessions on Thursday.
Ask questions: During sessions or workshops, actively participate by asking questions or sharing your own experiences to enhance your learning and engage with speakers and fellow attendees.
Visit exhibitors and e-posters: Explore the exhibition hall to discover the latest advancements in medical technology, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare services. Visit poster presentations to learn about cutting-edge research and interact with presenters.
Book onto a hands-on EndoVillage training station: Work with an expert trainer to learn new endoscopic skills and techniques.
Utilise social media: Engage with the conference community on social media platforms using the official hashtag #BSGLIVE24. Share your experiences, insights, and highlights from the conference, and participate in online discussions to expand your network and stay connected with colleagues. Follow us:

Stay energized and hydrated: Conferences can be demanding, so prioritize self-care by staying hydrated, eating nutritious meals, and getting enough rest. Pace yourself throughout the event to maximize your energy levels.
Sign up for the BSG NIGHT – taking place on Wednesday night at the Button Factory, this is a great way to meet new people and network in a more informal and relaxed setting.
Evaluate and reflect: Keep notes during sessions to capture key insights, ideas, and action items. After the conference, take time to reflect on your overall experience.
Ensuring everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience at BSG LIVE’24
The BSG is committed to providing a safe environment for everyone. All staff, members, event attendees and sponsors are required to follow the BSG Events Code of Conduct which we encourage you to familiarise yourself with.
Report incidents promptly: If you experience or witness sexual harassment or misconduct, report it promptly to conference organisers or the BSG team. You can raise any issues with the team either at the registration desk or BSG stand located in the registration foyer.
Support fellow attendees: Offer support and solidarity to individuals who have experienced harassment or discrimination. Encourage them to report incidents and seek assistance from conference organisers or the BSG team.
Promote a culture of respect: Foster a culture of respect and inclusivity within the conference community by modelling respectful behaviour, challenging inappropriate conduct, and promoting diversity and equality.
Provide feedback: Offer constructive feedback to conference organisers on ways to improve safety measures and address concerns related to sexual harassment. Encourage the implementation of proactive measures to create a safer environment for all attendees.
When attending social events: Consider staying in groups, look out for one another and intervene if you witness potentially harmful behaviour. Look up public transport and taxi options in advance, and make sure your phone charged before heading out. You will find charging stations in the venue, and at a number of our exhibitor stands. You can also pick up a drink cover from the BSG stand if you’re planning on hitting the town in the evenings.
